Cabin Restoration Project

Just a few months ago, before COVID-19 changed all of our lives, RPA was partnering with green building startup, EcoForm Design.

The aim was to turn a former hunting cabin at Albert Family Community Forest into an accessible nature classroom and meeting space. The project would use hempcrete, a renewable, regenerative material.

Like so many plans, the cabin restoration was delayed this spring. Now, EcoForm founders Cam Kasper and Sam Berrigan (both members of the class of 2020 at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute) are back at it! They are prototyping configurations for the project and molding hempcrete panels.

We're continuing to raise funds for the project, and are already halfway to our goal of $3000. The support we've already received has been essential to the project - a BIG thank you to all who've helped.

Sam has generously offered to use his stimulus check to match up to $1,000 of new donations to the project’s
GoFundMe campaign. You can help us reach our goal by donating, or by sharing the campaign.

Sam and Cam will hold a virtual interactive lecture and Q&A on hempcrete on Saturday, June 20, at 5 pm. Save the date, and stay tuned for more information.
