Maps and GIS Data
Town Ecological Community Maps
Eleven Ecological Community Maps of the 10 towns and 1 village display the variety of ecological communities that are on the Plateau. The diverse array of 73 types of ecological communities range from Hemlock-Northern Hardwood Forests to Red-Maple Hardwood Swamps to Vernal Pools. The GIS data for these maps can also been found in the RPA Data Basin Gallery. Data Basin allows you to zoom in to sites, add other layers and export the data for your own use.
These nine Conservation Plan Maps from the Regional Conservation Plan were developed through an extensive Ecological Assessment. Maps range from Important Forest-Interior Areas to Important Aquatic Networks to Rare Plants. The GIS data for these maps can also been found in the RPA Data Basin Gallery. Data Basin allows you to zoom in to sites, add other layers and export the data for your own use.
GIS Data (Data Basin)
Visit the Rensselaer Plateau Data Basin Site. This will take you to an external site where RPA houses its GIS data, which is available for public viewing and downloading. Data Basin provides many functionalities, allowing users to zoom into specific sites, add other data layers, export created maps as pdfs or download GIS data.
