As you know, healthy, intact forests and wetlands are vital to our well being and that of many other living things. You also know that it takes teamwork and vision to safeguard our natural areas.
The Rensselaer Plateau Alliance has been working since 2008 to conserve the woods, rivers, and wetlands of the Rensselaer Plateau from development and fragmentation. Over the past decade, the elbow grease of many caring individuals like you has paid off – nearly 12,000 acres on the Plateau have been conserved. We have big visions for the future and there is more work to be done.
Here are some ways you can join us in this effort.
How you can help:
A gift of stock can provide you with financial and tax benefits while helping RPA. Please contact our executive director Jim Bonesteel, firstname.lastname@example.org or (518) 712-9211 for more information
Make a Qualified Charitable Distribution from your IRA
If you are 70½ years or older and must take the Required Minimum Distribution (RMD) from your IRA a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) could be used to satisfy the RMD by making a direct, trustee-to-trustee transfer to RPA. By doing so, the RMD will not be reported as income thus lowering your taxable income. Talk to your financial advisor, IRA custodian or accountant to determine if this would work for you
We encourage you to support your small local business but if you do shop online you can help by choosing Rensselaer Plateau Alliance with Amazon Smile and/or Giving Assistant. RPA will then get a small percentage every time you shop.
If you’d like to help ensure a bright future on Rensselaer Plateau, with forests and wetlands protected and accessible, consider making a planned gift. Options for planned giving include leaving a gift of any size in your will or making a planned donation of real estate. If you’d like to discuss options, please contact executive director Jim Bonesteel at (518) 712–9211 or email@example.com for a confidential discussion. If you’ve already included the Rensselaer Plateau Alliance in your will, we’d love to hear about it so we can thank you in person.
There is plenty of work to be done in support of RPA's mission! We have all sorts of volunteer opportunities, and we would be happy to work with you to find the right one for you. To find out more, contact RPA's volunteer, program, and outreach manager Dan Morse at firstname.lastname@example.org or (518) 712-9211.
