Once again, RPA and The Nopiates Committee (Nopiates) are partnering for a Mindful Nature Walk.
If you don't know Nopiates already, they are a wonderful local organization that supports and advocates for people and families affected by addiction and engages our community in ongoing prevention and education initiatives.
This year we've all been impacted by uncertainty and loss. We all need support as we reinvest in our mental wellness and recovery. Time in nature has been shown to reduce stress, promote healing, reduce loneliness, and balance our mental health. When we get out of our busy lives and minds, we find we are able to connect with this abundant support in our local forests.
Join The Nopiates Committee and Rensselaer Plateau Alliance for a mindful nature walk, where we will connect and restore, using mindfulness practices, deep breathing, and nature connection to support our wellness. If your mental health has been impacted, if you or a loved one has been affected by addiction, if you've lost someone to a mental illness or substance use you are warmly welcomed to join us.
No experience necessary - all are welcome. Ages 12 and up.
Molly Freiberg, a Kripalu-certified Mindful Outdoor Guide, will lead us. We will be walking slowly, sometimes sitting, taking in the natural works around us and sharing our reflections with each other. Just dress for the weather, wear shoes you can walk in comfortably, and bring water to drink. Masks will be required for unvaccinated folks.
This event is free, but you must register by 10am on Friday, 10/22 by emailing Dan Morse at firstname.lastname@example.org.
