New York State Hunting Season Dates for 2022 (Southern Zone)
Early Bowhunting: October 1 - November 18
Crossbow: October 12 - 21
Regular Deer: November 19 - December 11
Late Bowhunting / Muzzleloading: December 12 - December 20, December 26 - January 1
We advise avoiding hikes during hunting season or being extra cautious while you’re out.
If you choose to hike at one of RPA's community forests or preserves, or on other public lands (including state lands), please remember to wear some blaze orange, and avoid wearing white.
Hunting at RPA community forests is restricted to a few hunters per day. Hunting is NOT allowed at RPA's Barberville Falls Preserve, but it’s still a good idea to wear blaze orange on the trails.
