About this Event
Join Matt Thatcher and PCF Steward Jeff Briggs for a snowshoe hike at Poestenkill Community Forest. Along the way, we’ll also cover some winter tree identification basics.
What to Expect
This outing will involve approximately three hours of snowshoe hiking and exploration over varied terrain, mostly on-trail. There will be some periods of stopping to look at trees and other points of interest.
What to Bring
Please bring a mask, water, and snacks. Make sure to dress in warm layers and wear sturdy, warm, weather-appropriate footwear. If there is not enough snow for snowshoeing, microspikes are recommended.
About the Leaders
Matt Thatcher works professionally as a biologist technician. He has a degree in Applied Sciences from the SUNY-ESF Ranger School in Wanakena, NY.
Jeff Briggs, Steward of Poestenkill Community Forest, is a member of the RPA Board of Directors and a retired ecologist. He has a Ph.D. in ecology from Oregon State University.
