Projects that the RPA is currently working on fall into 4 categories:
Developing a Regional Conservation Plan
Educating the public, officials from local municipalities, and private land owners.
Conducting grass roots campaigns, when necessary, to show support for initiatives that
that are important to conserve the Plateau.
Working with landowners and our Alliance Members to find creative ways to conserve land.
Educational Projects
In 2010 we will be sponsoring and cosponsoring a variety number of workshops, lectures and
woods walks. As we finalize our schedule we will post them on our Events

Grassroots Campaigns
We about to launch a campaign to support the NYS DEC in the proposed creation of a
Rensselaer Plateau Forest Legacy Area. Stay tuned.
In the winter of 2009 we conducted a grassroots campaign
to show support for the Plateau in the NYS DEC Open Space Plan. We received word that we had demonstrated,
"Extensive Support", for the Plateau. With the announcment in March 2010 byt DEC of the proposed creation of the
Rensselaer Plateau Forest Legacy Area we have true confirmation of our success in this endeavor.
