The Rensselaer Plateau Alliance has an ongoing commitment to provide quality workshops, seminars, lectures and educational woods walks to help educate landowners and the public.

Partnering with Local Schools:

This year, (2011), we have partnered with the Averill Park School District, (Miller Hill School) and the Robert C Parker School on a Service Learning Character Education project. Students in 4th and 5th grade will be building bird houses for bluebirds and wood ducks which will be donated to RPA. We will then publicize and give the bird boxes to landowners that have the appropriate habitat.

The bird boxes are scheduled to be available in May, so stay tuned.

Next year, (2012) we hope to expand this to a different and much larger project including the other schools of the region including some of the city schools. We will be writing grants to fund this.
